There are several paddling options in area including river paddling on the Broad River Paddle Trail, the First Broad River Paddle Trail, and the Green River and lake paddling on Lake Lure, Lake Adger and Lake James.
ROC has partnered with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission to create the Broad River Paddle Trail. Plans call for 11 access points on more than 40 miles of river between Lake Lure and the Cleveland County line plus additional access points in Cleveland County before the river flows into South Carolina. The Broad River Paddle Trail is currently a mixture of public accesses, informal access with permission, and areas with no public access. Lake Lure is open to the public for paddling though a daily or annual permit is necessary. Permits can be obtained from the Town of Lake Lure or from the Lake Lure marina. The marina is the main public access point and is located at 2930 Memorial Hwy, Lake Lure, NC 28746.
ROC is committed to maintaining a safe and clean Broad River. We host a spring and fall clean-up days called River Sweep. We also organize a river stewards program to regularly scout the river and report and manage any safety issues. The river stewards meet regularly.
