This section starts at the informal access at 221-A in Cliffside. It requires a portage (river right) at the Duke Power plant dam. Take out is at Lake Houser which has a parking fee.

Keep your maps in a plastic bag to protect them from the rain and know how to use them. GPS units are great, but they are not substitutes for knowing how to use a map and compass.
