BIKE

Eight road bike routes have been developed by ROC for your pedaling pleasure. They range in length from 15 to 35 miles. Mountains views, rural countryside, and lightly traveled roads are to be expected. Clicking on a link below will download a .pdf file with a map and description of each route. Additionally, Rutherford County has one of the longest Rail-Trail projects in the state, currently extending from Main St. in Spindale north through the countryside to the community of Gilkey. Also, a 24-mile segment of the NC-DOT Southern Highlands Trail runs across the county. An excellent map showing these routes in detail and containing other information is available. You can have a free copy mailed to you by calling the Rutherford County TDA at (828) 245-1492 or stop by their offices at 1990 US 221 south, at U.S. 74.
